Mark heads up MPL and offers online training in the academic sector (university level). His training includes research and writing skills, and teaching methodology. In addition, he provides publishing support, from editing to publication.
On the business side, Mark has in-depth experience of teaching business communication skills in financial and technical contexts. He provides insight and training concerning current concepts, knowledge and performance, when it comes to all aspects of business and the financial system. He really enjoys working with clients to help them communicate better on a high level.
Mark has published in Applied Linguistics and ethical philosophy, and is a reviewer of academic articles and dissertations.
Mark was first educated at King’s College, Cambridge University, where he read classics for his degree. He also has an MA and PhD in Applied Linguistics (Exeter and Leicester universities), as well as a diploma in teaching from Trinity College, London. He began his teaching career in Italy as a lecturer in English in the University of Bari, and followed this with three years in Prague as a lecturer in English at the Charles University. In Sweden he was head of teacher-training (English) at the Folk University of Sweden (Gothenburg), and he taught business communication skills in major banks and companies such as SKF, Volvo Car, and SCA. Mark owns a technology company based on linguistic technology. He has experience of negotiating deals regarding the sale and licencing of intellectual property, and he puts this real-life experience into MPL courses.
Mark is also Editor-in-Chief of the journal Cambridge Explorations in Arts and Sciences (CEAS).
